My interest in finance and investing has its roots in my father’s influence. As a child, I remember him skillfully researching investments and looking for opportunities in traditional equity investing, residential and commercial real estate, more secure notes, and gas and oil exploration. Many times, I would accompany my parents to meet with their business partners and investment experts, being too young to stay home alone. I would listen carefully to their conversations, trying to understand as much as I could about the deals Dad was considering and Mom’s concerns with each one.
Early on, I learned there is a difference between savers and investors - without risk there is limited reward. After the meetings, I would ask questions, eager to figure out what some of the big words meant. Compound interest was mind-boggling! Over time, I would track the results, asking more questions. My dad carefully used his successes and failures as teachable moments. Today, I consider him one of the smartest men I know.
In 1992 I began work with an investment firm in Chico, California and worked there for 13 years. I learned the business, finished a Master’s Degree in Information and Communication Studies, passed the Series 7, 24, 63, 66 exams, and obtained numerous insurance licenses. Through all of this, I also started building my own book of business. It was difficult juggling work, family, and a growing career but I emerged with extensive experience in financial planning and a love for the industry that is still building some 25 years later!
In recent years, my focus has expanded to the broader community. In my spare time, I love to volunteer at the local dog rescue. Each Wednesday night I walk anxious displaced pooches and shower them with love. I wish I could bring them all home! Life’s blessings allow me to focus on clients in a caring and comprehensive manner. Each day I strive to serve as I would want to be served; bringing my best to every interaction, decision, and investing opportunity.
My Husband Scott and I just celebrated our 28th Wedding Anniversary. We have two daughters that are all grown up. Our older Daughter Shandra works for Loma Linda Children's Hospital and married last year. And our younger Daughter Courtney is attending Walla Walla University majoring in Finance.
